Services Configuration for a small SharePoint 2010 Server Farm


Farm Configuration Wizard

 

 

 

 

Once you have clicked on Launch the Farm Configuration wizard, use the service account serviceadmin for running all the service applications as below.

 

 

Click Next to continue to the next screen…The next screen you see is to create a site collection

 

 

You can skip the creation of site collection or create one and this will take you to last screen of farm configuration

 

Now on the Central Administration go to Application ManagementàManage Services on the server

 

And you will see the screen below:

Start the services in order below:

 

  1. Claims to Windows Token Service
  2. Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Workflow Timer Service
  3. SharePoint Foundation Search. Once you click on start you will see a screen like below

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Use the service account as “searchadmin ”

 

Please IISRESET !!!

 

  1. User profile synchronization service

Please IISRESET !!!

 

Since the user profile synchronization service is running under the service admin we need to delegate the control for it to run the user profile synchronization. See below snapshot when you click on the “Administrator” tab

 

Now add serviceadmin and sharepointadmin if they are not added as below and give them “Full Control” access right.

Click on the Manage button from ribbon and it will take you to the page below. Select “Configure Synchronization Connections” from below…

Input the forest name and domain name and enter user as sharepointadmin and password. Click on “Populate Containers” button and select “Users”

 

 

Click on “Configure Synchronization Timer Job” and select the interval to 5 minutes for testing the service couple of times and click on the run now button.

 

 

Go to the “miisclient -FIM Synchronization Service Manager (SSM)” under the path and start the Microsoft ForeFront 2010 client:

“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Synchronization Service\UIShell\miisclient.exe”

And you should see “Success” for all AD connection “AD”

 


For the first time click on “Start Profile Synchronization”

Select the “Full Crawl Synchronization” as below

 

Check the forefront again to see if the full import went well…

 

If you are lucky enough to see above snapshot and next step is to search for users…

 

If you can find the users user profile is completed.
